It's A Yes To The Test!

December 10, 2016 downtown, Chicago. It was my turn to visit my boyfriend. He had just visited me the month before for Thanksgiving. I was pretty sure I was pregnant by that point because my period never came and my body started doing unfamiliar things. Instead of taking a test, I waited until I got to Chicago. I wanted to take the test with him by my side. In between time I would tell him that I thought I was pregnant and he pretty much brushed it off. 

We went to the local Walgreens to pick up a pregnancy test. I was so excited to rush back and take it. In less than 10 seconds of urinating on the stick, the results came back positive. I washed my hands and left the test in the bathroom. I didn’t say anything when I got back to the room. I just got in the bed and unlocked my phone. Keith, looked at me with his curious eyes and said, “So, what did it say?” I told him to go look for himself.

  He went in the bathroom for what felt like 10 minutes, but it it was really only 5 minutes. Keith was quiet. I had no idea what he felt or thought when he saw the positive test. I just knew I was happy and in for a commitment of a lifetime. When he came out the bathroom it was still a little awkward. I was surprised at how shocked he looked. I mean it wasn’t as shocking to me because I knew something wasn’t the same about me.  

            He told me to come and sit on his lap. We held each other in silence for a long while.
