Hi everyone! I want to first start by saying that I am introducing a new segment to my blog called #Women2WomenWednesdays. Each and every Wednesday, my plan is to either feature a hard working mama or business owner, OR blog about a hot topic, us women can relate to. Please contact me to be featured or if you have topics you want to read about ;).

Kyler-Rose is 5 months and soon to be 6 months on the 14th. I recently introduced baby solid foods into her diet. Lately, we have been experimenting with different flavors and she can't get enough. I buy her baby food straight from Petite Appetit. Ky loves it! Petite Appetit delivers quality baby food, while providing genuine customer service. There are so many tasty flavors to pick from. I caught up with the Founder of Petite Appetit, Dalila Kujifi for a quick interview about her business and lifestyle! Here is our conversation:

AMANDA: Tell us about you & why you started your own business?

DALILA: I’m a 28 y.o mother to a 1&1/2 y.o (21 months) son. I always knew I wanted to start my own business as I have many ideas, but Petite Appetit was the most feasible for me to start because I was already doing it with my own son. I believe entrepreneurship is very important, especially for women and women of color because we are underestimated and still underpaid in comparison to men. In addition to that, I just believe it’s so important to do something you love and enjoy because work takes up so much of your time; and something like Petite Appetit I can do while my son is in the kitchen on the floor playing with Batman:) The idea of Petite Appetit came to be because when my son was first born, breastfeeding was super important to me & I knew I wanted everything he had to be as pure and natural as possible. So when I had difficulty producing milk, so much so that the doctor described my son as a ‘failure to thrive’; I was devastated that I had to supplement with formula. I eventually copped with that and sooner than later it was time to give him solids and this was something I could control, so I made it my mission to give him homemade organic baby food.

AMANDA: What is your son's favorite Petite Flavor?

DALILA: While he eats mostly table food now, but his favorite was sweet potatoes and any mixture with applesauce in it.

AMANDA: What makes your product different/ and or special?

DALILA: What sets Petite Appetit apart from the rest is that it has locally sourced ingredients so you know where your apple (for example) came from and you know the date it was made. Although there are many organic babyfood products on the market, you don’t know how long it has been sitting on the shelf. Also, many have to add ascorbic acid to preserve the food and its color for shelf life.

AMANDA: How do you balance having a food service business, motherhood and your workload?

DALILA: To be honest, I have to just take each day one at a time. Working full time, being a mother, maintaining a household while pursuing my masters degree and growing a business is overwhelming; but I try to be as organized as possible to maintain my sanity. I would also be lost without my planner/ journal. It helps me to not forget things and also wrap my head around what needs to be done. I can’t forget my support system either (mom, boyfriend, boyfriends mom, friends); they make it possible for me to carry out the things I put in my planner.

AMANDA: Where can people follow you?
