The Anticipation
On March 31, 2017 we held a party to reveal the gender of our precious baby. Leading up to the event, we had no idea of our baby’s gender. I decided to let my God Mother and Auntie be in charge of revealing our baby’s gender. This means for about a week they were the only two people who knew what we were having.

The Party Planners
Although I put them in charge of keeping the secret, I was hands on about planning and decorating for the actual gender reveal party. Since Keith plays football, we knew we wanted to incorporate that into the theme. We decided to go with the “Tutus or Touchdowns” idea. My parents allowed us to have the event at their house to cut the location rental costs. I created our party invitation and I organized a party planning committee which consisted of my mother and my two closet friends. My mother orchestrated the entire event (including food preparation and decorations). She did an amazing job from top to bottom. A good friend of mines mother, created customized décor for the theme. I put my two friends in charge of the games for the party and the guest list. I sent everyone various ideas and decoration preferences Keith and I agreed on. At that point, I stepped down and let the party planning committee put together an amazing night.
The Menu
The food consisted of football snack favorites: flavored wings, chicken and steak skewers, pasta salad, meatballs, buffalo chicken dip, crab dip, a nacho station, chicken chili, a veggie tray, burger sliders, collard greens, deviled eggs, macaroni and cheese, grilled shrimp and more! On Pinterest, I found great beverage station ideas. We served non-alcoholic beverages including party punch, cranberry apple and orange juices, and sweet tea. As far as alcohol was concerned we had a mimosa station, a variety of beer choices and vodka. We also told our guest to feel free to bring alcohol of their choice to enjoy at the event!
Games
When the guest arrived, each guest signed in at the door. We had a guest book for signatures. We also had envelopes so our guests could write their addresses. This made it easier to write handwritten thank you cards after the event.
By the card station there was a voting station. We made individuals write their name and write whether they thought Kyler was a boy or a girl. Their vote went into two separate boxes, one box was for a girl and one box was for a boy.
When we started the activities, Keith and I announced each person and what they thought Kyler’s gender would turn out to reveal. If the the person was team boy, they would have received a green Kyler t-shirt. On the other hand, if the person was team girl, they would have received a pink Kyler t-shirt.
Keith was team boy and I was team girl. We played a couple’s competitive game where Keith and I took turns to toss the ring on the football goal post.
Our guest count was so large that we kept our games to a minimum. We did a balloon relay activity and allowed our guests to make small announcements before we served food.
The Perfect Reveal
My God Mother and Aunt put together a creative scavenger hunt. They didn’t explain it at first. The hunt started with Keith and I pulling strings to two separate piñatas. Multi-colored confetti poured out and so did the first clue. At that point, they announced that clues had been left around the house for Keith and I to uncover. So the scavenger hunt was on for the clues! Each clue had a sweet poem that led to another clue. When we found the last clue, there was a folded up picture of a sonogram. I unfolded the paper to find out that we were expecting a baby GIRL!!!!
